I almost called this ink painting "On the Rocks" but decided it was a bit more serious than that! Another great blue painting. I'm adhering this to two 5" squares glued together, with the sides painted black. These small ink paintings really light up that small wall space that needs that special something.

"The Dreams of Bees" Original Alcohol Ink Abstract Painting by New Orleans Artist Lou Jordan

"The Dreams of Bees" is the third of the Tiny Gems series that I created before Christmas to give to loved ones. It was glued to a w/c paper card. I then signed it and sent it of to one of our many family members and friends. I started one or two and kept on going until I had finished 100! (big family). I could do about 20 at a sitting - and it was addictive! They got better and better the more I did - so it was hard to stop. I took photos of them all before I sent them off so at least I still have the image. If you fall in love with them, I can do lots more - just let me know. They will all be different but I can keep to the same color palette.

They make great cards for special people.

 They are $25 each and 6 for $100.

"Orb II" Original Alcohol Ink Contemporary Abstract Painting, Cosmos by New Orleans Artist Lou Jordan

The Orb paintings are two new alcohol ink paintings that speak to me of Cosmos; space, strings of golden matter, layers and layers into infinity. As I am always trying to see "what will happen if I do this?" these are experiments using the inks on larger pieces of Yupo. I get a substrate of color down on the Yupo and then start dripping and throwing the inks onto the paper - starting at the top and moving the paper all the time til they are dry. Then I have to make sure there is a balance in color and value, a point of interest, (circles are hard to make with the inks). I sit it on the ledge over the fireplace and live with it for a few days, add or subtract, spray with fixative and gloss medium and then either adhere to the wood panels or frame.
